Description
This group of Atlantic puffins is floating happily in the waters off the coast of Boothbay, Maine. They are in the area as part of the nesting colony on Eastern Egg Rock, where these seabirds gather annually from April to Atlantic.
Puffins are lovable little birds. They are stout and sturdy, and pleasingly plump, or puffy. They are called clowns of the sea, or clowns of the ocean, due to their little clown faces from their star-shaped jet black eyes and bright, colorful curved beaks.
