Description
An anhinga, also known as a snake bird, is perched on a piece of weathered wood in the Wakulla River.
This beautiful black bird is drying his outstretched wings in the warm Florida sunshine on a beautiful October afternoon.
Anhingas get their wings wet when swimming and fishing. They spear fish with their sharp beaks, toss the prey into the air, and then catch and swallow it.
There is a cypress knee to the left of the anhinga.
Wakulla Springs is a state park in northwest Florida, south of Tallahassee. It has an abundance of birds and other wildlife.
