Description
ROMANTIC PURPLE HYDRANGEAS is a painterly style digital photograph of this popular Southern flower.
Hydrangeas are flowering shrubs which bloom prolifically in the summer. The color of the flowers can range from pink, to purple, to blue, depending upon the acidity and alkaline content of the soil.
The blooms in this photograph are a mop head shape. Other varieties, like oak leaf hydrangeas, have a more cone shaped flower.
If you look closely, you will see that each "flower" is actually a densely packed cluster of small flowers.
This lovely plant was photographed in a beautiful garden on the grounds of Iron Mountain Yacht Club and Marina on DeGray Lake in the foothills of the Quachita Mountains in central Arkansas, near Little Rock. These purple flowers are among the most beautiful hydrangeas I have seen.
The original photograph has been edited, altered, and enhanced to give an artistic, painterly look and feel to the final image.
Texture courtesy of Joel Olives.
