Description
Montenegro is a Southeastern European country which was part of the former Yugoslavia. It is bordered by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania.
In recent years, Montenegro has become a port for Adriatic cruises. The Old Town of Kotor, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is reached by cruising inland, from the Adriatic Sea, through Montenegro's spectacular fijords.
Saint Stephen, or Sveti Stefan, which is pictured here, is a small island and hotel resort near the seaside Adriatic resort town of Budva on Montenegro's Riviera. It is easily reached from Kotor.
Sveti Stefan was a playground for the world's rich and famous during the sixties, seventies, and eighties.
It is now a 5-star franchise hotel of Aman Resorts.
On July 13, 2010, Montenegrin Statehood Day, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli gave a concert at the resort to mark the hotel's Golden Jubilee.
The hotel was awarded Hotel of the Year by Gallivanter's Guide in 2010.
