Description
This is not my typical subject matter, but it is so unusual to see these nocturnal moths during daylight, that I decided to take advantage of the rare sighting of these unusual moths in July, 2012.
Luna Moths are rarely seen due to their brief one-week adult lives.
The moths do not eat or have mouths. They live solely to mate and reproduce during their short lifespan of only live approximately one week.
They are most commonly seen at night, and most mating occurs at night.

Thanks, Bob and Nancy! This is not my typical subject matter (!!!) and I almost didn't post it (my husband encouraged me;he said they are just moths!!), but these two were practically begging to be photographed. They were right outside our garage, in broad daylight, all afternoon. In fact, my camera lens fogged up when I first took it out (gotta love that humidity), so I left it in the garage, and they were still there several hours later, so what was I to do??.
