Description
One of the treats of sailing on the beautiful Kennebec River between the Atlantic Ocean and Bath is the opportunity to view four different lighthouses.
Doubling Point Light serves the upper end of Fiddler's Reach.
Just downriver from there is Maine's only set of range lights - the Kennebec River Range Lights, which are identical towers with flashing lights which need to be lined up for safe navigation. These lights were originally called Doubling Point Range Lights.
Beyond that is the 25 foot tower of Squirrel Point Light, pictured here.
Finally, at the mouth of the Kennebec is Pond Island Light.
