Description
Squirrel Point Light is located on Arrowsic Island. It is one of four navigational aids, all dating back to 1895, on Maine's beautifull Kennebec River, on the stretch between the Atlantic Ocean and Bath, Maine.
The lighthouse was automated in 1979 and is still operational, although the fog horn is not. Its power source was converted to solar in 2008.
Squirrel Point, where the beacon is positioned, derives its name from a frigate which ran aground here in 1717.
