BEARDED OAKS is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This image was captured at Maclay Gardens in Tallahassee, Florida. It features towering oak trees with trailing Spanish moss. The trees are casting wonderful shadows on the walkway below.
An elderly English friend who was with me during this visit described this scene as looking like "grandfather's beards." That comment was the inspiration for the title of the image.
We Southerners love our live oak trees and Spanish moss, and our canopy roads and walkways. They provide shade when it is hot, and beauty year round!
