BEAUTIFUL SPRING PAPERWHITES is a fine art digital photograph by Carla Parris.
Paperwhites are among the earliest blooming spring bulbs in my Tallahassee, Florida garden. Their appearance is always a welcome sight!
This stem of delicate, petite flowers is resting on the weathered woven wicker seat of an old Brumby rocking chair.
The flowers are from my father's childhood home in Greensboro, Florida, and the rocking chair belonged to my great aunt on my mother's side.
Paperwhites (Narcissus papyraceus) are a member of the daffodil family. They are one of the smaller- flowered narcissi belonging to the jonquilla cultivar.
Not only are paperwhites delightful to look at, but they are also extremely fragrant.
Paperwhites can be grown indoors by forcing the bulbs, and do not require that the bulbs be chilled beforehand.
