Description
Norway’s fjords are spectacular, with gorgeous water, verdant hills, snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and, when it’s not raining, beautiful skies.
This stunning scene was captured in Hardangerfjord, en route to the picturesque town of Ulvik, near better-known Eidford.
We visited Norway on a cruise which featured scenic cruising of the fjords, and the trip delivered what it promised. Because most of our destination ports were at the end of fjords, and because many of the fjords were carved deep into the interior of the land during the last Ice Age, we enjoyed hours of beauty from the ship. Some sail-ins were as long as six hours, and of course you get to enjoy it all in reverse when you sail back out to the North Sea. Maximizing the experience did require being up early (like 3:30 or 4:00), but oh, was it worth it! And because Norway is part of the Land of the Midnight Sun, there was always daylight.
