Description
Much of the drive to Fort Clinch, on the Atlantic coast, is on stretches of canopy roads, as pictured here, where towering limbs of live oak trees arch across the path.
The massive, graceful tree limbs are usually dripping with Spanish moss, and usually covered with resurrection fern which, when it is dry, is barely perceptible but, when it is wet, comes alive and is a bright green.
Ft. Clinch is a state park on Florida's Amelia Island. It is located slightly north of the delightful community of Fernandina Beach. It is on the opposite end of the island from Amelia Island Plantation.
