Description
Hammond Castle, pictured here, was constructed between 1926 and 1929 on the coast of Gloucester Harbor by inventor John Hays Hammond, Jr., who pioneered in the study of remote control and held over four hundred patents.
Built in the style of a medieval castle, the landmark structure was built to house Mr. Hammond's extensive private collection of artifacts dating all the way from ancient Rome through the Renaissance.
