Description
APALACHICOLA WATERFRONT is a panoramic image of the riverfront area taken from the Apalachicola bridge.
Apalachicola is a quaint little town in the Florida panhandle which was once the third busiest port on the Gulf of Mexico
The town, which has managed to retain an Old Florida look and feel, is the home of an active shrimping and oyster industry.
This stretch of the waterfront has a maritime museum, a small inn, several seafood restaurants, and a couple of abandoned buildings.
The town has old net factories, a former sponge warehouse, and old ship chandleries. There are operating oyster processing plants, and a marina with shrimp boats and other fishing vessels.
The city's historic district has over 900 historic homes and buildings. The residential areas have numerous picturesque Victorian era houses.
There are also quaint inns, a variety of seafood restaurants serving local fare, numerous shops and boutiques, including ones with a nautical theme and a beach theme, and a growing number of art galleries.
