Description
CARRABELLE SHRIMP BOATS is a photograph by Carla Parris which presents a bit of old Florida charm.
These shrimp boats were photographed at the marina in Carrabelle, Florida, where the Crooked River, the Ochlockonee River, and the Carrabelle River empty into the Gulf of Mexico.
Carrabelle retains an old Florida feel. It has beautiful Gulf Coast beaches nearby.
Its picturesque marina contains a wide variety of vessels, including these vintage shrimp boats which are still in operation.
Carrabelle is one of several small coastal fishing villages in the panhandle of Florida. This stretch of the Gulf of Mexico is called The Forgotten Coast.

There's something very special about shrimp boats to me - I've no idea why I find them so fascinating. Perhaps because I lived on the Gulf for a time. But you've captured the wear and tear, the old plant where the shrimp are unloaded...all the character of the port so beautifully. A wonderful image!! F/L T P

Really appreciate all the support, Heidi. I thought of you when I shot this... Hoped you would see it!! I love all your marina scenes... You have a ton of great ones. I was so pleased to get this one!! Carrabelle is about an hour and a half from where I live, so I have to travel a bit to get there, but it is quaint and very appealing, and I do think shrimp boats are dripping with character and patina!
