Description
The ibis is a white coastal bird with a distinctive orange curved beak.
This image, captured at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge in Northwest Florida, features a profile of a single adult bird perched impossibly high and precariously on very slender branches in the tops of waterside trees. He is silhouetted against a lovely blue sky. His position highlights his curved beak and long spindly legs.
The refuge is located south of Tallahassee, in Wakulla County, on the Gulf coast. This image was captured near the St. Marks Lighthouse.
