Description
RED SHOULDERED HAWK IN WOODLANDS is a fine art digital photograph by Carla Parris.
Red-shouldered hawks are relatively common raptors with distinctive reddish coloring on their upperwing coverts which gave rise to their name. They have barred reddish-peachy underparts and a strongly banded tail.
These generally forest-dwelling birds search for rodents and other prey from a treetop perch or while flying over woodlands. They have very sharp vision and treacherous talons.
This lovely hawk, with his stately, noble profile, was photographed in Tallahassee, Florida.
The final painterly style image is a composite of several photographs, and has been processed using a variety of textures, including one by Jai Johnson and one by Lil' Owls.
