Thatched cottages are something of a novelty, but a thatched church is really an unusual sight.
This stone church with an ornate, decorated thatched roof was photographed on the Isle of Wight, a small island off the southern coast of England, across the Solent from Southampton.
About Carla Parris
My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens! They really are, Ralph. I especially like it when a cottage with a thatched roof has some extra decoration on the top of the roof, made of thatch, like a little fox running along, for example.

Thanks, Ralph. I also thought it was really unusual to see a thatched church. When I am travelling in England, I am always pleased to come across a thatched cottage, but this is the first church I have seen. It was an unexpcted find on the lovely Isle of Wight.
