Artist's Description
The Italian Riviera village of Portovenere sits on a rocky peninsula on the Gulf of Poets in the Gulf of La Spezia. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a harbor lined with brightly colored houses and narrow medieval streets leading up the hill to a Doria Castle. The picturesque San Pietro Church sits on the promontory, once the site of a temple to Venus (Venere in Italian) from which Portovenere gets its name.
About Carla Parris
My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens! I am a painter, as well as a photographer, and offer galleries of paintings and mixed media pieces. My interest in traditional art has spilled over to my post processing of photographs, and in addition to images with minimal post...
