IMPRESSIONS OF VAN GOGH'S SAINT-PAUL-DE-MAUSOLE is a colorful, artistic, painterly style digital photograph by Carla Parris.
During the 1800s, the medieval stone building pictured here housed the asylum where French painter Vincent Van Gogh spent part of his life and produced some of his famous paintings. The building was originally built, in the 12th century, as an Augustinian priory, and was later known by Nostradamus as a Franciscan convent.
The cloister of the building has a lovely garden with irises, lavender, daisies, and roses.
The building is situated just outside the town of St. Remy, in southern France.
It seemed perfect to give this photograph of this beautiful old building a little bit of a painterly look, with an Impressionistic palette, given its importance in the life of one of France's most famous artists.
Textures include several courtesy of Melissa Gallo.
My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens! I am a painter, as well as a photographer, and offer galleries of paintings and mixed media pieces. My interest in traditional art has spilled over to my post processing of photographs, and in addition to images with minimal post...
