Amidst the chaos of life that can often find us searching for the way out, or the way through, or just trying to find our way, our purpose, our destiny, in a more overarching sense, come Jesus’ words, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…”. What hope, what light, what direction for our feet and our heart, He offers on this journey that is life.
This mixed media artwork incorporates a piece of tissue paper that was underneath another painting I was actually working on. It’s abstract lines and angles are not usually my style, but this bit of protective paper captured me, because it - serendipitously - had great design and seemed to suggest, with a bit of an urban vibe, the chaos we can sometimes experience.
The touches of yellow on the right hand side of the image, particularly the upper right, suggested the light outside the disorder and confusion. But how to get there? The addition of the One Way sign, pointing in the general direction of the light, seemed to complete the composition and hold and offer the hope and guidance we sometimes so desperately need and seek.
