Description
An adult male hooded merganser is swimming in the Wakulla River in northwest Florida, near Tallahassee.
Hooded Mergansers have a crest that can be spread or closed, much like a fan. The crest of females is a cinnamon color. The crests of males are even more striking. They have a large patch of white, surrounded by black.
Hooded mergansers are the smallest of three types of mergansers in North America. These beautiful ducks are only part time residents of northwest Florida, when they migrate here for the cold months.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork with all FAA members. Well worthy of this recognition.
