Description
This pair of turtles appears to be performing a turtle ballet. The turtle on the right looks like she is doing a tendu, with her leg extended.
This outdoor pas de deux, or duet, is being performed on center stage in the middle of the Wakulla River in northwest Florida on a stand of cypress stumps, known as cypress knees.
These turtles are suwannee cooters. Their top shells are black with yellow markings, their bottom shells are bright yellow with black markings, and their necks and head have green skin with yellow stripes.
This dancing duo was photographed at Wakulla Springs state park.
