Description
SECLUDED MCWAY COVE IN CALIFORNIA'S JULIA PFEIFFER BURNS STATE PARK is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
Picturesque McWay Cove, in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park on the Big Sur coast of California, is a peaceful secluded cove which is the site of beautiful McWay Falls.
This beautiful coastal waterfall in a spectacular natural setting is one of California'sy two tide falls (waterfalls which cascade directly into the Pacific Ocean). McWay Falls drops 80 feet from tree-lined granite cliffs onto a secluded pristine white sand beach during low tide, as captured here, and directly into the turquoise blue ocean waters of McWay Cove during high tide.
The state park is located on California's spectacular U.S. Highway 1. It is 37 miles south of Carmel and 12 miles south of Pfeiffer Big Sur. The scenic byway has been designated by the U.S. Department of Tourism as an American National Scenic Byway and California Scenic Highway.
The 3,762 acres of Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park offer a variety of hiking trails, including popular Overlook Trail which is an easy half-mile walk from the parking lot, and offers the breathtaking view seen here of McWay Cove, the falls, the beach, and the ocean.
The state Park, located on land that was originally called the Saddle Rock Ranch because of a rock formation in McWay Cove that resembles a saddle, is named after a well respected pioneer woman who was a resident and rancher in the Big Sur region during the early twentieth century. McWay Falls and McWay Cove are named after Christopher and Rachel McWay who settled the area in the late nineteenth century.
This landscape scene features the semicircular secluded cove, with its turquoise waters, and a beach where the waterfall falls from the surrounding cliffs. In the distance, the Pacific ocean and sky can be seen. The image is framed by the foreground cliffs and vegetation.
This image, which depicts a spectacular scene in nature, appears in the January 2, 2017 post entitled, "God Makes Himself Known," on the blog, www.peterparris.net, where the author, Peter Parris, writes about how the invisible God communicates Himself through His created universe, and how His invisible attributes, eternal power, and Godhead have been clearly seen and understood through what He has made.
