SALAD CAPRESE is a digital photograph, by Carla Parris, of a classic Italian dish.
Salad Caprese (insalata caprese) (salad in the style of Capri) is a wonderful simple salad made of sliced tomatoes, fresh buffalo mozzarella, and basil, seasoned with salt and olive oil.
Unlike most salads in Italy, salad Caprese is usually served as an appetizer (antipasto), rather than as a side dish accompaniment (contorno).
This salad Caprese was part of a wonderful meal I enjoyed at a terrace restaurant at Le Sirenuse hotel in Positano, Italy, overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean Sea and the spectacular Amalfi Coast.
