PELICAN GLIDING ABOVE THE LILY POND is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This solitary pelican is gliding along effortlessly over a peaceful pond filled with lily pads.
It is late afternoon, and the last rays of fading light catch him as he is heading home for the evening.
This textured, painterly style, composite digital photograph began with two original photographs. The pelican was photographed in Destin, Florida, and the water lily pond is a scene from St. Marks Wildlife Refuge.
Textures include two courtesy of Jai Johnson (Summer Morning and Sunrise at Sea).
My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens! I am a painter, as well as a photographer, and offer galleries of paintings and mixed media pieces. My interest in traditional art has spilled over to my post processing of photographs, and in addition to images with minimal post...
