Description
This heavy rope, used by shrimp fishermen, was photographed in Apalachicola, Florida. Working shrimp boats can be seen there at the central waterfront park on Market Street; the public marina; and the Apalachicola River and Gulf of Mexico.
The variety of colors and wonderful textures are eye-catching in this natural abstract.
Apalachicola is located on the Gulf coast on the Florida panhandle. In past times, it was the third busiest port in the south. Today, it is a quaint little town with great seafood restaurants serving local fare. Shrimp and oysters are particularly popular.
The whole town has a nautical, maritime flavor. This close up image of one of the tools of the trade captures the essence of that character.
