Description
Beautiful smooth, jewel-like sea glass glistens on the shore of Glass Beach in Northern California.
This unusual coastal attraction, located partially within and partially adjacent to MacKerricher State Park in Fort Bragg, in Mendocino County, was once the town dump.
After the site was closed, the biodegradable materials decomposed, and eventually the metal was removed. For years, the remaining glass and occasional bits of pottery were tumbled in the turbulent, unrelenting Pacific Ocean waves and abrasive sand, eventually becoming the unusual expanse of polished sea glass that now covers the beach.
The predominant colors of glass are green, brown, amber, orange, white, cream, and gray. The pieces, particularly the whites, vary in opacity from very transparent to translucent to completely opaque.
While this would be a beachcomber's dream, visitors are discouraged from removing the glass.
This image, which selectively focuses on the middle section of the image, is a close up of a vast expanse of beach where this beautiful glass completely covers the sand.

Thanks, Lynn. Its worth a visit. There are steps, but you still need to be prepared for a steep climb, especially at the bottom.
