Description
CARDINAL PERCHED IN TANGLED BRANCHES is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This beautiful, bright red, male cardinal is sitting amidst a mass of tangled branches.
Because the image was taken in winter, when most of the surrounding foliage was dead, the bird's vivid color gives the scene the appearance of a naturally occurring selective color image.
Cardinals, also called redbirds, are readily recognized by laymen as well as avid birdwatchers. They are active songbirds with a variety of melodies. They are common in warmer climates, such as the southeastern United States.
This photograph was taken in Tallahassee, Florida in 2013.
