Description
GINGER LILIES is a watercolor painting by Carla Parris.
Ginger lilies are also called "butterfly lilies." They are intoxicatingly fragrant. Although there is no way to capture their extraordinary fragrance on paper, I enjoyed portraying their lovely, graceful shape in this painting.
The palette of this painting is shades of aqua, turquoise, and green, with white and small touches of yellow.

Thank you very much, Gisy. I think Cuba had very good taste when it chose its national flower, as I share your mother's appreciation for these. They are one of my favorite flowers, too!

This is gorgeous! These are the National Flower of Cuba, my mom's favorite flower. You capture their beauty perfectly.

Thank you, Randy! My ginger lilies came from a relative, and they just keep spreading! I have been able to pass along some starter clumps to friends myself! They are beautiful flowers, and as you know, their fragrance is intoxicating!

This is exquisite. I love white flower paintings. Used to grow ginger lilies years ago and loved to smell the leaves and the delicious blooms, especially during the evening. I usually bought the roots in the grocery store and started during early spring.

Amen.. Yes, He is our author of all good things..He makes everything beautiful in His time...Thank for responding my comment so soon! I consider this as a powerful message from the Lord who remind me to stand still on my position as an artist apart from being a Pastor.

What a lovely message from you and your wife, Jason. I am touched. Thank you so much. I pray this will indeed be a new season of blessing in your family, meeting your hearts' desires, and exceeding your expectations. The Lord is the author of all good things, and delights in delighting us! How appropriate that you are feeling that sense of expectation as we look forward to Easter and all that it means!
