Dahlias are large, showy, dramatic flowers with petals densely compacted at the base.
This beauty, with its purple tipped white petals with lemon yellow shading at the base of the petals, was photographed in the summer of 2017 at Mendocino Botanical Gardens in northern California.
This macro image has the appearance of a sunburst. The lemon yellow is most prominent in the upper right, enhancing the sunburst effect.
My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens! I am a painter, as well as a photographer, and offer galleries of paintings and mixed media pieces.
