Description
This sweet-faced California harbor seal was photographed in shallow waters of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of The Sea Ranch in Sonoma County in an area between the beach's tidal pools and a rugged, rocky resting site in deeper water.
Harbor seals, also known as common seals, are brown, tan, grey, and, as here, silvery white. Along with sea lions and walruses, seals are pinnipeds, which means "fin footed."
Seals have small flippers and, unlike sea lions, lack visible ear flaps. They are more adapted to life and mobility in the water than on land, where they move awkwardly by wriggling back and forth on their bellies.

Adorable, last summer I got few on cam, but they were a little too far, great catch!

Thanks, Claudia. This sweet little girl (she looks female to me) really made eye contact with me, and was so endearing.
