A PLEASED PELICAN is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This plump pelican has a cute expression on his face, as he gazes at the viewer from his comfortable perch atop a post. He looks a little bit coy, rather smug, and altogether content and satisfied.
This cute fella was photographed one December afternoon in the marina area of Apalachicola, Florida, where there were lots of shrimp boats and other fishing boats. Perhaps his smiling face is because he had enjoyed easy pickings from the boats' catch of the day and had a full belly!
This photograph won Best of Show at a March, 2016 exhibit at the Apalachicola Arsenal (a wonderfully restored military building) in Chattahoochee, Florida. This fella's cheeky little expression caught the judge's eye!
