Description
Winchcombe, located in Gloucestershire county,England, is one of the oldest towns in the Cotswolds.
This Anglo Saxon town, whose name means "valley with a bend," is situated on the River Isbourne in a scenic valley between Broadway and Cheltenham.
The Cotswolds is a largely unspoiled region in the southwest of England which has a look and feel which many consider quintessentially English. It is the country's largest Area of Natural Beauty with gently rolling hills ("wolds"), beautiful countryside, scenic river valleys, and idyllic meadows and woods.
It is dotted with picturesque villages and historic market towns, with cottages and period buildings all built from warm, honey-colored Cotswold limestone.
This scene from a side street in Winchcombe shows a row of quaint cottages.
