Description
Thatched cottages are something of a novelty, but a thatched church is really an unusual sight.
This stone church with an ornate, decorated thatched roof was photographed on the Isle of Wight, a small island off the southern coast of England, across the Solent from Southampton.

This is charming...voted for in the Church Exteriors In The UK contest in Best of Britain group. Would you care to send this one along to Islands Of The United Kingdom group please. It would be very welcome.

Thank you, Sherry. I have seen lots of lovely thatched cottages, but this is the only thatched church I have seen.

They really are, Ralph. I especially like it when a cottage with a thatched roof has some extra decoration on the top of the roof, made of thatch, like a little fox running along, for example.

Definately a wonderful opportunity for a great shot. Thatched roofs are an art work within themselves and more then just a roof.
