Description
TEXAS BLUEBONETS is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
Named for its color and its petals' resemblance to a woman's sunbonnet, the Texas bluebonnet became the official state flower of the Lone Star State in 1901.
The flower's scientific name is Lupinus texensis. It is also called buffalo clover, wolf flower, and el conejo.
Bluebonnets bloom in the early spring and can be readily seen in fields, on hillsides, and along roadsides throughout central and south Texas.
Often, bluebonnets bloom alongside bright orange Indian Paintbrush.
The palette of this image is bright blue and spring green. It has a soft blue vignette and border.
