Description
Sardinia, which is an autonomous region of Italy, is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.
Cagliari, its capital city, has four historic neighborhoods (Castello, Marina, Stampace, and Villanova), as well as several modern districts.
St. Anna Church (the Collegiata di Sant'Anna), pictured here, is an 18th century Baroque style church in the Stampace (Stampaxi) region. This impressive structure has a grand staircase which ascends to the Piedmontese Baroque style façade. It is topped by two bell towers, each with a small cross, and three domes of varying sizes.
