Description
This square format nature photograph features a grumpy-looking adult black-crowned night heron perched on a tree branch.
This image was captured at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge in northwest Florida.
Black-crowned night herons live in wetlands throughout North America. This squat, plump fella is in a tree at the edge of a marshy area in the national wildlife preserve.
Saint Marks is a birdwatcher's paradise, particularly in the winter when migratory birds join the permanent feathered residents.
