Description
LAVENDER OF PROVENCE by CARLA PARRIS is an original photograph taken by the photographer on her travels in southern France.
This close up of lavender was photographed in St. Remy, France, in the gardens inside the asylum where Impressionist painter Van Gogh lived in 1889.
The building is a former monastery and now houses a display of Van Gogh's paintings.
Lavender is prevalent throughout Provence, and many products made from lavender are sold in local shops.
The peak season for lavender is usually around early July, depending upon the weather conditions and the altitude of a particular area.
This photograph was taken in September, 2013, when I was delighted to find any lavender that was still blooming.
