Description
Broadway, often called "the Jewel of the Cotswolds," is a charming village in the heart of England. The town, in the county of Worcestershire, gets its name from its wide High Street which was the main route between London and Worcester.
The High Street is lined with warm, honey-colored limestone buildings, built from local stone, in a range of architectural styles, including Tudor, Stuart, and Georgian. There are picturesque cottages, such as Half Penny Cottage pictured here, and grander period buildings, including the historic Lygon Arms Hotel.
The Cotswold region is one of England's 40 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has gently rolling hills crisscrossed by stone fences, scenic river valleys, picturesque villages, historic market towns, and stately homes and gardens.
The Cotswolds are one of those regions of England which look and feel quintessentially English.
