Description
CLOSE UP OF PARIS LOCKS OF LOVE is a macro digital photograph by Carla Parris.
Locks of love, which have become a popular romantic tradition worldwide, can of course be found in Paris France, a city which is synonymous with romance!
Couples inscribe their names or initials on a padlock, affix the lock to a bridge or other public structure, and throw the key away, as a symbol of undying love.
This cluster of colorful, shiny locks was photographed on the Pont de l'Archeveche, a bridge over the Seine river, between the Ile de la Cite and the Left Bank, near Notre Dame cathedral. One lock is shaped like a heart, and one has a painted mosaic looking pink heart. Some of the locks have begun to rust, from their exposure to the elements.
This photograph was published in Eye on Fine Art Photography in the February 2014 issue.
