Description
ARCHED PASSAGE IN VIVIERS FRANCE is a travel photograph by Carla Parris.
The medieval village of Viviers, France, is a walled city on the Rhone River in the south of the country. It is a commune in the Ardeche department of France.
Viviers is full of interesting architecture with wonderful texture and patina. This lovely arch covered passage is particularly colorful.
The roads leading to town are lined with plane trees. The narrow cobblestone streets inside the town reward the wanderer with fun discoveries around every bend.
Viviers is home to Saint-Vincent Cathedral , the smallest cathedral in France, where I enjoyed a lovely organ recital on a recent visit. The cathedral has a mix of Romanesque, Gothic and 18th century architecture. Its decorations include beautiful Gobelin tapestries.

Thank you, Lenore. Viviers was a particularly wonderful medieval city with some of the best texture and patina I have seen on my travels!

Brilliant work Carla! I love the light and shade! Brings back memories for me. I once painted this archway, with an old man, almost doubled over his walking-stick, passing through the archway!
