Description
AMERICAN WHITE IBIS is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This portrait of an American White Ibis was taken in December, 2015 at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge in northwest Florida, near Tallahassee.
This species of shorebirds has a distinctive downward curved orange beak, and orange legs. The plumage is mostly white, with black wing tips generally only visible when the birds are in flight.
These shorebirds are often seen wading in shallow waters, as they are feeding.
During mating season, they cluster in large groups.
