Description
A PEACOCK WANNABE is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.
This great blue heron was photographed at St. Marks National Wildlife Reserve on the Gulf coast of northwest Florida, near Tallahassee.
He is standing on the sandy shore, at the edge of marshland, in front of a clump of green and brown grasses which have the shape and appearance of a peacock's fanned out tail feathers.
He struck this pose, where he stood like a statue for a long time. It seemed as if he wanted to be seen with the grasses outspread around his body.
Although great blue herons are noble, impressive creatures in their own right, it just looked to me as if this fella aspired to the dramatic grandeur of a peacock with its extravagant display of outspread feathers.

This blue heron looks like it has an unusual peacock tail when you first glance at the photo! Fantastic capture of the bird standing right in front of the fanned out grasses, Carla!
