BLUE MOUNTAINS is a digital photograph by Carla Parris.

We visited the Blue Mountains of Australia as a day trip out of Sydney. They were spectacular!

Their blue haze comes from the abundance of bluish green eucalyptus tree leaves.

These "mountains" are actually not technically mountains, but rather the plateaus of deep canyons cut by the flow of rivers.

Because of their heavy vegetation, these geological wonders were described by our local guide as "the Grand Canyon with clothes on."

This broad landscape image features the light colored rocky lookout point in the foreground, with successive layers of lush vegetation which start with a deep forest green and progress to a lighter blue green as they recede into the distance.

Farthest away, the sides of a surrounding canyon can be seen, with trees and brush on top, and beyond that, a beautiful sky.

The Blue Mountains offer spectacular vistas in a panoramic 360 degree view....

My love of photography grew out of capturing images from my travels, so photographs of beautiful and interesting places comprise a large portion of my portfolio. I am a Southern girl, and love the beauty that is in my back yard, so there are also lots of images from close to home. These include images of our beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, which I visit any time I can! I also enjoy capturing images of interesting flora and fauna, and wildlife images I am able to capture with my newest telephoto lens!
